Well, apparently, the ballerina flat is out and the smoking flat is in?!
The smoking what? Well, these are the smoking flats, or as I like thinking of them, Hugh Hefner’s footwear of choice. Industry bible WWD reports that “smoking slippers” are outselling every other style of flat shoe.
This borrowed from boys’ trend is both sleek and comfortable. Smoking flats offer an evolution to the ubiquitous oxford trend. Wear smoking loafers with cropped pants to add a touch of femininity, complete the look with a sharp, tailored jacket.
Admittedly, am still not entirely convinced about the slipper style and it goes without saying that in our minds they will never replace the feminine ballerinas.
